Like me with my roses, it seems like it doesn't matter how early I get out there to start fighting them off, they have started before I believed it would be warm enough for insect life. They're tougher than me, I tell ya.

We'll fight and we'll win.

MegAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4502661551470062304.post-24609171671437457612010-05-27T14:00:01.932-04:002010-05-27T14:00:01.932-04:00Mary - I promise to keep it fun :)

So much gardening information is directed toward people in midwestern climates, it's hard for someone like me - just a beginner without much time - to find good information that works here.
I don't really care about my grass too much - I hope to be lawn-free eventually :), but growing some food in my backyard is a huge goal for me.
Thanks for the comment!Christyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05999466440892323379noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4502661551470062304.post-45087590126115479222010-05-26T23:05:57.992-04:002010-05-26T23:05:57.992-04:00Hi Christy,

My lawn has been organic for a year and it is lush and beautiful - a conversation topic with my neighbors. This, my first vegetable garden, is also doing well and I have eaten a tomato and cooked with my herbs.
At the risk of sounding like a sales person - which I now am due to my overwhelming success - I will tell you that I have been using Happy Naturals products from The Happy Gardener and I am thrilled with the results. They carry foliar sprays, fertilizers, soil amendments all made with certified organic ingredients. I could say so much more but I encourage you to research for yourself as there are tons of products out there (www.thehappygardener.info). By the way, I am the only one of my surrounding neighbors who did not have to resod after last winter. I am here to say that organic gardening does work in Florida.Meryl Williamsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01417308439667233274noreply@blogger.com
